They will NOT work in the VGA version, because it is icon-driven. At any time during the game, you can activate the cheat codes by typing in "razzle dazzle root beer" (without the quotes). Be sure to save your game first. (If your pick locks skill is above 40, this will only tickle. However, if you aren't that skilled, let's just say you've found one of the more humorous ways to end the game.) In the text-based version, type "pick nose;" in the icon-driven version, click your lockpick on yourself. Do this repeatedly and watch your skill increase rapidly. There is a bug in the VGA version of Quest for Glory I that lets you get as much money as you need. First, go to the fairy ring (mushroom patch) in the woods. Gather as many handfuls as you can carry). Next, go to the healer's house and sell her the mushrooms. After you give her four or five handfuls, she'll say "Thank you, but I have enough mushrooms." Don't listen to her because she'll continue to take the mushrooms and give you money in return. Easter Eggs EGA/VGA Versions The antwerp in the Adventurer's Guild was slain by the Two Guys from Andromeda, aka Scott Murphy and Mark Crowe, the creators of the Space Quest series. The blackbird that appears in all the QFG games is in the brigand leader's office (although the hero doesn't know what it's for yet). The moose head in the adventurer's guild is courtesy of the Sierra Prop Department. The submarine from Codename: Iceman sometimes appears at Mirror Lake. EGA Version At Erasmus' place, there's a plane labelled Lytton PD in the room where you first enter. Lytton Police Department is the police department in Police Quests 1-3. Also at Erasmus' place, there are some hieroglyphics on a stone. Look at them. The stone is described as a "Rosella stone" (reference to KQ4). Rosella is also on it. At the main menu, right-click on the scorpion. Congratulations! You've discovered the first bug in the game! Sometimes during the game, you get bitten by a program bug (and die). Guess this is the Coles' way of saying: Error found. At Erasmus' place, look at the armor standing close to the stairs. You can see it's from Colonel Dijon (Dijon is a character from Sierra's Colonel's Bequest). If you click on an uninteresting part of the screen and there's no response, keep clicking. Sometimes you get funny messages. VGA Version Look at the lamp in the inn. You'll get a message "Lamp for rent. Inquire in Quest For Glory 2: Trial by Fire for information.". Delphineus from Eco Quest 1 sometimes appears at Mirror Lake. Nessie also sometimes appears at Mirror Lake. If you look at a tree in the forest long enough, the hero calls it a Daventree (Daventry is the homeland of the King's Quest characters). In the town, find the poor beggar. When you give him an alm, talk to him. He will tell you a story about a man who invented a cider. He calls it Amblin Entertainment from Spielberg (referring to Steven Spielberg's company, Amblin Entertainment). If you're walking around and the earth begins to shake, don't worry! It's just Earl Sinclair from the famous Dinosaurs TV series going either to work or back home. The gargoyle's questions at Erasmus' place contain a lot of cameos: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy "What is the meaning of life, the universe and everything?" is answered "42." The comment "So you put some Deep Thought into the question, eh?" refers to Deep Thought, the computer that found the Ultimate Answer. The Wizard of Oz The gargoyle's reply "And who am I, Dorothy?" is answered "I am Oz, the great and terrible." Answer "The Wizard of Oz" to the question "Who do you seek here?" The gargoyle's comment "Somehow, I don't think you're in Kansas anymore." Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade "I seek the Holy Grail" and the gargoyle's reply "Sorry, that Jones guy found it already." Secret of Monkey Island "I want to be a pirate" answer. King's Quest "I am King Graham Cracker," and the gargoyle's comment "Right, and I am Princess Rubella." Also at Erasmus' place, look at the sarcophagus. You will see it's a Leyendecker sarcophagus. It is also tied with a Laura Bow (Laura Bow is a character from Colonel's Bequest and Dagger of Amon Ra, both from Sierra On-Line).
