Arctic Moves hints

1- SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
----------------------

ARCTIC MOVES needs:

- PC Computer with processor 286 (AT) or higher.
- 386 or higher is recommended.
- 550K of RAM memory. (563.200 bytes).
- 3'5 disk drive (1.44MB).
- Hard disk with at least 2MB free.
- VGA card or higher.
- Operating system DOS 3.0 or higher.
- DOS 5.0 or 6.0 recommended.
- SoundBlaster card or compatible.


2- INSTALLATION
---------------

INSTALLATION:
All you have to do is pkunzip -d the file ARCTIC.ZIP to your hard-disk
and run crack.com once.

UNINSTALLATION:
To uninstall ARCTIC MOVES you must go to ARCTIC dir, and then type:
CD ARCTIC ...and press return
DESINSTA ...and press return
And then the ARCTIC directory will be deleted from your hard disk.
                               

3- LOADING ARCTIC MOVES AND CLASICOS DINAMIC
--------------------------------------------

- ARCTIC MOVES
Once installed, to load ARCTIC MOVES you must go to the ARCTIC directory, and
then type:
CD ARCTIC ...and press return
ARCTIC ...and press return

The program will run automatically and will show you the manual protection
screen.

-CLASICOS DINAMIC
To run the CLASICOS DINAMIC you must go to the ARCTIC directory, and then
type:

CD ARCTIC ...and press return
CLASICOS ...and press return

The screen will then show CLASICOS DINAMIC, which is a menu letting you chose
between the first and the second part of ARMY MOVES and NAVY MOVES,precedents
of ARCTIC MOVES in the trilogy.


4- MANUAL PROTECTION
--------------------

Before the game starts, it will ask you for a sequence of elements
that you can find in the lower part of some of the pages of the manual.
Select the sequence that the program asks you and the game will start.
Just click any 3 symbols.

(Razor 1911 has solved this problem for you dudez. hehe)

5- INTRODUCTION TO ARCTIC MOVES
-------------------------------

" The message was using our frequency but it wasn't coming from any of our
commanders. It couldn't be! After verifying it's meaning, it was absolutly
clear : a spaceship of our defence forces from the future was having problems,
but it was having problems in our century.

How was that possible...? Perhaps then, time-travelling wasn't any problem...

The spaceship was invaded by aliens and was going to impact towards the
arctic zone which was under enemy control. The immediate question was: Could
this aliens invade our future technology...? We can't permit that!!

Our best man must go to the enemy base to get to the rest of the spaceship and
make it take off. Objective: Get our future technology.

The mission doesn't seem easy. This is the reason why we chose Derdhal,
that was victorious in other difficult missions which were ARMY MOVES and
NAVY MOVES, where he showed his good domain in computers and war techniques.

The submarine U-92 will drive you to the enemy base. There won't be any way to
return once you step the arctic surface. Here is where your mission starts.
Good luck! You can't fail! "


6- MAIN MENU
------------

To enter in the main menu press the spacebar. The menu has the following
options:

1. MISSION 1 AND MISSION 2
To start the adventure in one or other mission or to get information
about the missions.
2. PROLOGUE
It shows you information about your situation and the importance
of the mission. To go back from the PROLOGUE to the main menu press the
spacebar.
4. EPILOGUE
When you pass all the missions you will get the code to see the final
epilogue of the adventure.
5. CREDITS

Choosing the options MISSION 1, MISSION2, PROLOGUE or EPILOGUE will access you
to a new menu.

This menu offers you the following options:

EXIT: To return to the main menu.
START: To start the chosen mission.
INFO: To get information about the chosen mission.
CODE: To introduce the ACCESS CODE for a mission.

To start the FIRST PART of the MISSION 1 or to see the prologue you only have
to select START.

Before you start the SECOND PART of the MISSION 1, the MISSION 2 and the
EPILOGUE, you will have to introduce the ACESS CODE, that will be shown to
you when everytime you pass the diferent stages of the selected mission.

TO MOVE IN THE MENUS USE THE CURSOR KEYS. TO CHOOSE THE SELECTED OPTION PRESS
THE SPACEBAR. YOU CAN ALSO USE THE MOUSE OR THE JOYSTICK.


7-MISSION 1
-----------

Your first mission is to destroy the communications system of the enemy. To
do so you will have to do a double effort:

To eliminate their sophisticated radar system (MISSION 1, PART 1) and to
destroy all their vehicles, which are used to move on iced surfaces
(MISSION 1, PART 2)

If you don't manage to destroy all the communication systems, your mission
will have failed. The enemy will continue to send important information from
the alien base, to their headquarter, hidden somewhere on the planet.

MISSION 1, PART 1

Your first objective in this mission is to finish with all modern radars of
the enemy. There are 4 radars model MULTIAC-R48. This complex system allows
the enemy to send the alien information to their supreme command. You will
find the radars inside some wood made buildings. To destroy the radars you
will have to use some bombs that can be found in the enemy base.

You will finish the mission when you destory the four radars. Then the
program will give you the ACCESS CODE to start the second part of the first
mission.

To destroy the radars you have to know some important things:

- You have 4 oportunities
- You have a limited time to finish the mission
- Your energy decrease

You also have the possibility to find some help to finish with the base
defenders and to gain more time and energy.

YOUR MOVEMENTS

To move use the cursor keys or the joystick. To shoot press the spacebar or
the joystick fire button.

To descend from a platform squat and keep the fire key pressed.

YOUR WEAPONS

GUN MARK7

Is the only weapon you will have when the submarine leaves you in the arctic,
nearby the enemy base. This is the most advanced prototype model of the
MARK 7 series, the most sophisticated portable weapon of the world.
To shoot your gun press the spacebar. For each fire button pressed you will
fire a bullet. To shoot continuelly keep the fire key pressed.

You can shoot in any direction. To do this once you are shoting, you can
direct your bullets in 3 directions: left, right and up. To do so use the
cursor keys.

XC8 BOMBS

Inside the enemy base you'll find 10 XC8 bombs. These bombs are manual and
they are activated using a time device. This is the only way you can destroy
the radars. In the lower right of the screen you can see the number of
bombs you have left.
To activate a bomb you must enter into the control rooms: the arrow will
indicate you the exact spot where you have to place the bomb. You can only do
this when the arrow turns to yellow color. To activate the bomb:

1. Place in the arrow
2. Squat
3. Press spacebar (Activate the bomb)

Leave the place as soon as possible, if you don't want to die.
A chronometer (in the lower right of the screen) shows you the seconds left
for the bomb to explode.

REMEMBER: YOU 'LL GET THE ACCESS CODE TO THE SECOND PART OF THE MISSION 1
ONLY WHEN YOU DESTORY THE FOUR RADARS.

YOUR ENEMIES

AIR TROOPS

They use a individual helicopter model UH-33 with two propellers. The space
air of the communication base is full of this kind of enemies. They will
shoot you mini-missiles from the air.

DEFENDER SOLDIERS

They are the enemy soldiers. They attack in groups and they are armed with
the modern automatic rifle NIS-RQ. They wait for you hiden in the cars and
into the room radars.

SECURITY SOLDIERS

They are giants with more of 2 meters. They are prepared to kill and they use
grenades.

DEFENDER MACHINE-GUN

These are machine-gun model TRX-H2, designed to defend the military
installations. They are in strategic places and automatically detect your
movements.

YOUR HELP PICK-UPS

- HEART: This increases your energy.
- CLOCK: You have 99 units of time to destroy the radars. Each clock will give
you 25 units of time.
- FLASH: If you get it all the enemies that are in the screen will die EXCEPT
the giants. Be careful!
- WEAPON BOXES: They are wood boxes that have 30 bullets. You start the
mission with 99 bullets.

There are other elements that will help you:

ELEVATORS AND AIR PLATFORMS

They permit you to move from one buildings to others. To use it you only have
to jump over it.

The elevators are stopped and they can be activated from the rooms where they
are installed.

Once you are into the room, go to the left and squat. In that instant the
elevator will start to move. Leave the room fast and jump to the ceiling.


MISSION 1, PART 2

OBJECTIVE

The objective in the second part of your first mission is to destroy
the communication system of the enemy. These are your NINE objectives:
six JEEP-KR7 and three HELICOPTERS DRILMAN.

IF YOU PASS THIS MISSION THJE PROGRAM WILL GIVE YOU ANOTHER ACCESS CODE
TO START THE SECOND AND LAST MISSION IN THE ARCTIC.

You wil find five hangars where the objectives are kept. In the main hangar
(the smaller one) are the offices, these you will not to worry about.

Two of the hangars are elevated in metallic towers. You can access them from
the low hangars through platforms. The system you must use to activate the
mines is similar to the one used in the first mission to destory the radars:

1. Find your objectives
2. You can place the mine when the arrow turns yellow
3. In each hangar there is at least two objectives you have to destroy. Find
the next and place the other mine.
4. When you have placed all the mines in the hangar, the system will activate
automatically and the hangar will explode. Leave soon from the hangar if
you don't want die in the explosion!

ADVICES OF THE MAYOR Mc WIRIL

1. You will find all the mines inside and outside the hangars, there are an
exact number of mines for all your objectives. Inside each hangar you will
find at least one mine. Remember to get all the mines from the hangars before
you explode it, because if you have forgot to get a mine and the hangar has
exploded, you will never again recover that mine.

2. Choose a reasonable order to place the mines. Place the last mine near
the objective at the exit of the hangar, then you will be able exit soon.

REMEMBER: WHEN YOU HAVE DESTROYED ALL THE NINE OBJECTIVES THE PROGRAM WILL
GIVE YOU THE ACCESS CODE TO THE SECOND MISSION.

ENEMIES

At first you'll find the same enemies that are in the first part of the
mission. But you will find other new enemies like in MECHANIC TROOPS, they are
the mechanics of the jeeps and helicopters, and they are inside the hangars.
Be careful because they will attack you with tools.

INTERIOR ELEVATORS

When you enter in the hangars to place the mines in your objectives you will
need to access other floors. Then use the interior elevators.


8- MISSION 2
------------

1. OBJECTIVE

You must control the spaceship to the station base ACOT-2, where it will be
studied. To do this you have to connect 7 main systems of the spaceship.

2. ESTRUCTURA DE LA NAVE

The sapceship is divided in 2 zones and 6 levels (from 0 to 5).
At any moment you can know in what zone and levvel you are by looking at the
marker. Level 3 has been infected by the aliens that are eliminating the
oxygen from the zone. You have to find a way to survive without it. Always
keep an eye on the oxygen marker.

HOW TO ACCESS FROM ONE ZONE TO OTHER

To pass from one zone to other you have to pass the diferent doors of the
spaceship. In the alien zone the doors have been destroyed and covered by
alien secretions.

HOW TO ACCESS FROM ONE LEVEL TO OTHER

To pass from one level to other, there are some elevators to transport you.
Not all the elevators reach all the levels. If you want to transport in an
elevator that is in other level you can call it pressing (down)

To move use the cursor keys or the joystick. To shoot use the spacebar or the
fire button.

If you maintain the cursor pressed you will RUN.

To fire the grenades, squat first. To walk again all you have to do is to
move in any direction.

If you HIDE then shoot, the enemy can't kill you. You have to maintain the
cursor key all the time you want to stay hiden.

YOUR WEAPONS

In this second mission you have only one weapon:

MACHINE-GUN

It is able to do two functions:

SHOOT BULLETS.

To shoot your gun press the spacebar. With each press, you will take 1 shot.
To rapid-fire, keep the fire key pressed.

You can shoot in any direction. To do this once you are shooting, you can
direct your shots in 3 directions: left, right and up. To do that, use the
cursor keys.

SHOOT GRENDADES

To fire grenades, squat first and then press fire or spacebar. You can fire
3 grenades continuously.

You have unlimited bullets and grenades.

YOUR ENEMIES

ROBOTS

There are robots with artificial intelligence. They have unrestricted movement
and they will attack you with a laser.

TIME BOMBS

They are programmed to be activated with your presence. Once activated try
to avoid the explosion if you don't want loose energy.

DEFENDERS COMMANDS

They are armed with automatic rifles. They attack in groups and are very
dangerous.

ELITE COMMANDS

They defend the reactor and they are armed with machine-guns. They are covered
with a special space costume. They move very fast and they wear green helmets.
You will find this kind of enemies in all the base except in the level of the
aliens. In this level you will find different enemies.

CAPITOSAURUS

They are big beasts that will try to kill you. If you want to kill them try to
use the grenades. They are very resistent.

CAPITOSAURUS LARVA

They are the capitosaurus larvas. They are hiden in some parts of the
spaceship. They have big heads and will try to kill you by attacking with
acid balls.

HUMANOIDES COCOFAGOS

They are in continuous movement and walk with shorter steps. They always are
in groups of 2 or 3. Be careful with this humanoids.

WORM-BULLET

They are big worms that are hidden in the ceiling and attack by eating your
head!

HOW TO CONTROL THE ALIEN SPACESHIP

You have to control the spaceship to transport it to the orbital station
ACOT-2, where it will be studied. To control the spaceship you will have to
operate the spaceship computers and connect to them the following
systems:

1. AUXILIARY ENERGY
2. FUSION GENERATORS
3. ON BOARD EQUIPMENT
4. NAVIGATION SYSTEMS
5. ANTIGRAVITY FIELD
6. REACTORS
7. TAKE OFF

There are two kinds of computers: terms of INFORMATION and terms of
CONNECTIONS Only from the CONNECTIONS terms you will be able to activate the
different systems needed to control the spaceship. This kind of computer
offers you three options:

The first option indicates to you the system that is activate from that
computer. Each computer activates one system.

The INFORMATION option shows you the possibility to get information about the
place where you have to go to activate any other system.

The EXIT option permits you to finish with the computer.

You must to use the cursor keys to move between the menu options. To select
one option press the spacebar or the fire button.

REMEMBER YOU MUST ACTIVATE IN ORDER THE SEVEN SYSTEMS TO CONTROL THE ALIEN
SPACESHIP. TO DO THIS YOU HAVE A LIMITED TIME (25 MINUTES) AND 9 OPORTUNITIES
IF YOU CONTROL THE SPACESHIP, THE PROGRAM WILL GIVE YOU THE ACCESS CODE
FOR THE EPILOGUE. THEN YOU WILL START YOUR TRAVEL TO THE SPACE BASE.
