INTRODUCTION

This will give you some important informative tidbits that they do not tell
you about in the manual. Please note that I am only mentioning information
that "would be nice to know". If you need a walkthrough, or cheats, you need
to find them somewhere else.

MANA

The Max mana you have is 200,000. The most you can generate is +500. You gain
+1 mana for every square of land you claim and/or +1 mana for every wall you
fortify. The developers decided that it was too unbalancing to have it greater
than +500.

TRAPS

Traps cost money and -X mana to maintain. X is different for each trap, I was
told. More information about this when I receive it. I am unsure what it costs
to activate traps.

SENTRY TRAP: Costs -5 mana to maintain This is the best to get, especially if
you have the money. A line of these babies can hold off any enemy group.
Personally, I find it very unbalancing to the game. 10 of these things with a
few freeze traps held off the entire Vampire Army on one of the ladder single
player maps.

FEAR TRAP: is best used to hold off enemy Imps. Works very well. Doesn't seem
to work on skeletons...?

HOW TO DESTROY A TRAP EASILY:
* Possess one of your creatures.

* Look at the trap or Door until it is highlighted.

* Tap the "0" on your numeric pad quickly.

* Any enemy door will open immediately.

* An Enemy trap will be destroyed in about 6 clicks.

SPELLS

There are 2 levels of spells. The cost of spell does not seem to change when
it reaches level 2, but it does become more powerful.

CREATE IMP is great at level 2. This will create a Level-4 Imp, and of course
the Level-4 Imp automatically has the speed spell, which makes it very fast.

CREATE GOLD creates 2000 gold at level 2, compared to 1000 gold at level 1.

MY PET DUNGEON

It may be tough to get points on My Pet Dungeon. Follow the objectives and you
will be fine. Also, you seem to points for every square that you claim.

IMP

Your Imps get extra speed when they reach level-4. Also, when you get the
CREATE IMP SPELL to Level 2, you will automatically create level-4 imps.

COMBAT PIT

The Manual Says that your creatures use the Combat Pit to Level 7. This is
false? You can train to Level 8.

A combat pit is great for training creatures for free. Often times when I am
low on gold, I won't make a training room and only use the combat pit.

The best way to train creatures:
* Put in 2 Bile Demons. They will start hitting each other.

* Then drop another creature behind one of the Bile Demons.

* The creature will get free hits, while the Bile Demons are hitting one
another.

* Remember to heal your Bile Demons to allow for longer trainings. Use
Bile Demons for this because
they have tremendous amount of toughness, so they beat on each other for
quite a long time, minimizing
the need for Healing.

EXPERIENCE POINTS (CREATURE LEVELLING)

It can be very difficult to see how close your creature is to levelling. There
is actually a little meter that moves like a clock on your creatures current
level marker. For instance, if your creature is Level 3, there is a shaded
area that is moving around the "3". You need to zoom in closely to see this.
Personally, I did not see this at all until about the 7th
campaign map.

GAME RUNNING SLOW?

I run the game with an AMD-K62 300mhz 128mb w/Pc100 RAM w/16mb Voodoo2 @ 800 x
600, and I experience slowdows, especially with a large number of creatures on
the screen. I'd hate to say it, but the best way to solve these problems is to
cut down your details. In the end, you won't miss a thing, especially if you
are a smart gamer.

Just set your Graphic Detail to MEDIUM, and Turn OFF Environment Mapping, and
Turn OFF Water Translucency. (I think you need to restart the game
afterwards).

The effects are really nice to have on, but I prefer speed over graphics. And
I still find the game very pretty with these options off. It is really a
matter of preference. But I guarantee you that after playing a map or two, you
won't even miss the detail.

CONVERTING CREATURES

This can be easily overlooked by the casual and experienced gamer. When you
place an enemy creature in the Torture chamber, cast a heal spell on that
creature. This will prevent the creature from dying, and will allow the proper
time needed to convert the creature.

TEMPLE SACRIFICES

As you know, you can sacrifice creatures in the Temple. This usually results
in "the gods bless you" with a new creature. This requires the sarifice of 2
or more creatures (usually of the same type) for the gods to bless you with 1
creature.

Sacrifices must be IN THE EXACT ORDER specified below. Please note that I have
not yet confirmed to the middle set of
sacrifices.

CREATURE TO SAC CREATURE GAINED
2 Warlocks 1 Goblin gained
2 Trolls 1 Warlock gained
2 Dark Elves 1 Troll gained
2 Skeletons 1 Dark Elf gained
2 Salamandars 1 Dark Mistress gained
2 Rogues 1 Salamandar gained
2 Bile Demons 1 Rogue gained
2 Vampires 1 Bile Demon gained
2 Black Knights 1 Vampire gained

3 MONKS Mana Boost Special
2 Wizards Bile Demon
1 Bile Demon, 1 Dark Elf, 1 Warlock Receive IMPS Special
2 Dwarfs, 1 Dark Mistress Make Safe + Make Safe Special
1 Salamandar, 1 Dark Elf 1 Dark Mistress
1 Skeleton, 1 Troll 1 Bile Demon
2 Mistress Nothing? Or is it a Dark Elf?

2 Dark Angels NOTHING
2 Goblins NOTHING
2 Fireflies NOTHING
2 Imps NOTHING

An interestig tidbit: Look at the order of creatures above (in the first set).
It is almost the exact order that your creatures appear on your "Show
Creatures" screen.

Sacrificing is also a great way to get rid of disgruntled creatures quickly.
When you sacrifice a creature, that creature loses all of it's gold, which you
can pick up and add to you total.

HORNY!

It costs 100,000 mana to cast HORNY, which is half of your total Mana
Reserves. After a few seconds (exact time still unknown), HORNY will cost
-2,000 Mana to maintain.

If you do not want to wait until your mana runs out, you can slap HORNY, which
will cause him to go away.

You cannot Pick up HORNY. You cannot possess HORNY.

Is he worth it? You bet. HORNY is extremely powerful and disgruntled. He can
easily take out a dozen bad guys (I guess we'd call them Good guys).

800 X 600 RESOLUTION

The manual says that you can have resolutions higher that 800 x 600. This is
True and False. You CAN run it higher than 800 x 600, but you cannot make it
so within the game. To get a higher resolution, you need to tweak your
REGISTRY SETTINGS. Please make sure you know what you are doing when tweaking
with the registry. I hold no responsibility if you screw yourself up.

Anywho, here is what I found out on the newsgroups:
* 1 "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Bullfrog Productions Ltd\Dungeon Keeper
II\Configuration\Video
There are several entries pertaining to rez's above 800x600. Checked it
out - super stuff - if you go above
1024x768 no text prompts appear on the game menus whilst in the game but
it is very pretty! Have fun.

* "2 "I had the same problem yesterday. A look in my registry revealed
that you have to enable resolutions of 1024x768 up... The path in your
registry is:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Bullfrog Productions Ltd\Dungeon Keeper
II\Configuration\Video

The keys are:
Res 1024*768 Enabled
Res 1280*1024 Enabled
Res 1600*1200 Enabled

They're Hex and should be set to 1 to enable the resolution.

DISCLAIMER: Don't edit your registry if you don't know what you're doing. You
can seriously screw up Windows..."

TECHNICAL PROBLEMS?

This is a very good site for technical problems, ranging from crashes, to
video/audio problems. http://http://www.dkeeper2.net/thrakhaths/techfaq.shtml

The only decent site I have been able to find on DK2, and also a site kind
enough to post and advertise this FAQ. http://www.dkeeper2.net

CHEATS

As I said before, I do not want to add cheats to this FAQ, perhaps I will in
the future for completeness. You can find cheats at
