I hardly fired my gun unless someone was in my way and I couldn't get past him. There are approximately 10 Terminators in the room with the Major, just run in, hit 'i' and use the medpack on him and grab him. You'll take a bunch of fire, but it's pretty weak. There a few Eradicators rolling around, so steer clear of them. They hurt.
