Use the tornado spin in the middle of the platform until it's all over. If this doesn't work (it won't, all of the time) simply use Knuckles to attack them. If you aren't fast enough, they will use Chaos Control. Use the Team Blast trick if you are down to one character (if other characters are knocked off the edge) to bring them back to life.
